Laos: The
Path of Life - Ethnic Exploration
Day 1 -
Bangkok - Chiang Rai - Chiangkhong
Meet your guide at Chiang Rai airport, and then
travel for about two hours to Chaing Khong district.

Day 2 - Huayxay - Xiengkok
- Muangsing
Crossing the Mekong river (about 8:00 AM) from
Chiangkong (Chiang Rai Province) to Borkeo province
for Lao immigration, then continue by speed boat
up the Mekong River to Xiengkok, small village
opposite Burma (passing through the Golden Triangle).
Continue by Chinese bus to Muangsing. Dinner and
Overnight at Singchaleun guest house

Day 3 -
Muangsing
After Breakfast, take a drive to Chinese border
to visit Ban Phoudonthan Yao village (originally
indigenous to China). Then, continue driving back
to visit Akha village at Ban Eura.

4 - Muangsing - Luang Nam Tha - Udomxai
In the morning, visit the local market where you
can experience the local trading style filled
with hill tribes, stop for picture at Ban Korakhammay.
Then drive to Luang Nam Tha to visit Ban Namdang
(the Lantan tribes always reside near the creek),
Lao theung tribe and Mhong tribe. Dinner and Overnight
at Vongpachit or Lithavisay guesthouse.

5 - Udomxai - Muanggoi
After breakfast, 08:30 am, drive to through mountainous
road to Muanggoi. Visit Ban Songcha the Hmong
village, Visit Tam Pha Kuang former army cave.
Dinner and Overnight at Phaiboun guesthouse.

Day 6 - Muanggoi - Luang
Prabang
After breakfast, take a river cruise on the Nam
Ou river by slow boat to Luangprabang. Visit Phatam
the pre history painting on the rock, and Pak
Ou holly cave. Have lunch at Ban Pak Ou village.

Day
7 - Luang Prabang
City tour of this ancient capital of the Lao Kingdom
beautifully situated on the Mekong surrounded
by forest covered hills. Here time appears to
have stopped for it gives the visitor a real feeling
of the old Asia. Visit temples such as Wat Visoun,
Wat May, Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Praphoutahbat and
Ban Phanom weaving village. Have lunch at restaurant.

8 - Luang Prabang - Vientiane
Visit of the national Museum housed in the former
Royal Palace and see the collection of former
acts, facts, sovereigns and treasures reflecting
the richness of the Lao throne from the early
Kings to last sovereign.. Then visit of Mount
Phousi climbing 329 zigzag stairs to the sacred
gilded stupa. Have lunch at restaurant, then transfer
to airport to fly to Vientiane.

9 - Vientiane
In the morning visit the local market, and then
fly to Vientiane, city tour of Wat Sisaket (house
of thousand Buddha images), Wat Hoprakeo (former
house of Emerald Buddha), Victory gate and Prathaluang
stupa (the most impressive stupa in Laos that
kept the relic of Lord Buddha) and morning market.
Have lunch at restaurant. Dinner and Overnight
at hotel

Day 10 - Vientiane - Pakse
- Xekong
Transfer to airport to fly to Pakse (the former
southern capital city of the Champasak Kingdom).
Take a drive to Xekong province through Boleven
Plataux. Visit Mon Kmer minority group such as:
Katu at Ban Houyhoun, Nghae at Ban Kiangtalung,
Kaluem at Ban Kokpouk and Alak at Ban Kandon villages.
Dinner and Overnight at hotel

Day
11 - Xekong - Attapeu
Visit Tadfad and Tad Houkhon water fall, then
travel by road to Attapeu. Visit the weaving village
at Muang Sisettha district, then across the river
to visit Houteung minority and the former Soviet
missile camp that was used during the Vietnam
war. Back to Attapeu.

Day
12 - Atapeu - Pakse
After breakfast, drive back to Pakse through mountain
road to visit Xekatamtok waterfall, tea plantation
and Tadfan waterfall.

13 - Pakse - Wat Phou - Khon Phapheng water fall
- Pakse
Excursion by road about 110 Km to visit Khon Phapheng
water fall, the widest fall in South East Asia.
Then back to Champasack to visit Wat Phou Kmer
ruin dated on the 11th century.

Day
14 - Pakse - Ubon airport
Transfer to Chongmeck Lao-Thai international border.
Then transfer to Ubon airport for departure flight
